Dubarry
Est. 1937"Country Lifestyle"
Brand Story
Dubarry was established in 1937 in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland, as a joint venture between the local Chamber of Commerce and the Cullen family, who brought footwear production expertise from Northampton, England. The brand was named 'Dubarry' after Madame Du Barry, mistress of Louis XV, to distinguish it from other Irish competitors — a touch of French aristocracy applied to Irish craftsmanship.
Dubarry gained worldwide recognition by becoming the first brand to obtain a GORE-TEX® licence for manufacturing leather sailing boots in the early 1990s, leading to the creation of 'The Shamrock Boot.' This design was later adapted for country pursuits, resulting in the iconic 'Galway Country Boot,' which remains a cornerstone of their collection and is sold globally across equestrian, sailing, and country lifestyle markets.
